Peka AR vs Tripo

TL;DR

Tripo is an AI 3D generator self-serve SaaS. It produces quad-topology meshes in under a minute and is praised for speed per dollar. Free output is public, non-commercial; Pro starts from about $11.94/mo (topon.tech, Oct 2026).

Peka AR runs AI generation plus a 3D-artist finish, and hosts the result as an embed with AR. The mesh is one step of the pipeline, not the deliverable.

Tripo is the cheaper, raw tool; its audience skews game dev and batch pipelines rather than storefront operators. The split is tool versus finished, hosted model.

What Tripo does well

Tripo earns its reputation on speed and per-dollar mesh quality. Multi-image input raises accuracy, auto-rigging is included on paid tiers, and the free output is genuinely usable for prototyping and game-asset work. For a technical user who wants raw geometry to remix, it is the cheaper finish line.

It accepts the widest input range in the generator group — one photo, multiple views, or a sketch — and its free credit allowance is enough to judge output quality before paying.

Why topology is not the same as correct

Clean quad topology is a real asset — for game engines, for retopology, for prints. It does not tell you whether the back of the product matches the real object, whether the logo survived the texture, or whether the file hits the ~4 MB web budget Shopify asks for. Tripo’s own strength addresses the mesh; likeness and web-budget are a separate pass.

That pass is what splits the category. An AI generator returns geometry; a managed pipeline returns geometry that has been checked against the source photo, retextured where the guess was wrong, and sized for a phone. Same input, different deliverable.

The delivery gap

Like the other raw generators, Tripo ships files. Its e-commerce use case points at exporting GLB for a model-viewer embed and USDZ for iOS — the same embed assembly any generator leaves to you. The hosting, the AR button, and the budget check are not part of the product.

Peka AR’s price — Free $0, $25, $50 a month, artist production at 10 credits — is the version where those steps are already done. If you want raw geometry for a Blender remix, Tripo is the better tool. If the model has to stand in for the product, the managed version is the comparison.

Peka AR fits if you

  • Need the model on a storefront with AR, this week
  • Would rather upload photos than clean meshes
  • Want commercial rights on every plan
  • Prefer one price that includes hosting and AR

Tripo fits if you

  • Want raw meshes for Blender or a game engine
  • Are generating assets in batch, not storefronts
  • Are comfortable doing the cleanup yourself
  • Need rigging or print exports more than embeds

Common questions

Is Tripo a good Peka AR alternative?
For raw mesh generation, yes — faster and cheaper per task, with the widest input range of the generators. For a finished, hosted storefront model, no: Tripo offered no hosted viewer or AR embed as of October 2026, so the real comparison is a tool versus a managed service.
Can I use Tripo's free output commercially?
No on the free tier. Free output is public and non-commercial; commercial use sits on a paid plan. A product page is commercial, so the free license does not cover it.
Does Tripo host an AR viewer?
No, as of October 2026. You export GLB/USDZ and assemble the viewer and AR embed yourself, the same assembly described in the 3D viewer embed guide.
What does Tripo cost compared to Peka AR?
Tripo Pro starts from about $11.94/mo (topon.tech, Oct 2026) with a free credit tier. Peka AR is Free $0, $25, or $50/mo with artist production at 10 credits per model — the price covers finishing, hosting, and AR, not just generation.
